1. What is the WJH Tax Notebook?
We annually provide our tax
clients with a tax organizer that helps them collect and organize
their income tax information the most effective manner.
If we prepared the client's return in the previous year, the organizer
contains information from that year. Clients can receive
their organizer from us in a paper version or they can use the
online WJH Tax Notebook service which allows them to provide accurate
and complete tax return preparation data to us quickly and easily
using the Internet and a web browser.

-
Before you access your personal Tax Notebook, our staff personalizes
the data and the screens to address your particular tax situation.
We also provide you with a username and password so that only
you have access to your information.
-
Using any PC with Internet access, you can conveniently access
WJH Tax Notebook directly from a link on our web site.

4. Who hosts the software?
WJH Tax Notebook is hosted
by CCH Incorporated. CCH has been serving CPAs since 1913
and continues to be a leader in documenting the ever more complex
laws and in providing the computational tools professionals use
in tax planning, preparation, and review.

of page.)
5. Is my information secure?
Yes. There are three
levels of security to consider.
General Security -
When storing and retrieving your Tax Notebook data, the
CCH site uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology to ensure all
information remains safe and private. SSL is an established
and mature Internet security standard with two dominant features:
data encryption and identification of the secured web server.
Data encryption is the process of transforming legible information
into a complex arrangement of illegible information. The
only way to make this data legible and useful again is to decrypt
it, reversing the process of encryption. In addition, to
identify and encrypt data when it is sent and decrypt it when
it is received, SSL uses a private/public key combination.
To ensure that the integrity of information is never jeopardized,
and to provide adequate redundancy, all data is maintained and
backed-up on a regular schedule. CCH employees are subject
to a strict employment policy regarding confidentiality, and internal
access to Tax Notebook is restricted to highly trained personnel
on an 'as-needed' basis.
In addition, CCH's Internet-based systems are protected behind
firewalls and all mission critical servers are deployed in a cluster
environment with high fault tolerance for fail-over.
Firm Level Security - Our staff's access to your
data in Tax Notebook is controlled with a separate application
called the Tax Notebook ToolKit. This toolkit has the same
security features as the Tax Notebook application and allows us
to control access to your data with the same administrative policies
we use for access to all client data.
Client Level Security - To use the WJH Tax Notebook,
you are issued a unique Logon ID and Password that provides secure
access to your Tax Notebook information. It is your responsibility
to protect this Logon ID and Password and control access to it.
For your security Tax Notebook automatically requires a user to
login again after 20 minutes of inactivity in the system.

9. When moving from page to page
or attempting to print, I get a message that says "Error
Locating Object Handler". What should I do?
This is an error caused by the manner in which Internet Explorer
interacts with the Adobe Acrobat Reader plugin. Before trying
any of the following solutions you must close your browser.
-
Make sure you have the latest versions of
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® and
Microsoft® Internet Explorer®.
-
If your problem still exists, you can copy two files, pdf.ocx
and pdf.tlb, from your Adobe\Acrobat X.X\Reader\ActiveX directory
(where X.X is your version of Reader) to your Internet Explorer
plugins directory (usually C:\Programs Files\Internet Explorer\Plugins).
If you have difficulty finding these files or directories, use
the Windows Search or Find feature in your Start menu.
-
Another possible solution: With Internet Explorer closed,
open Adobe Acrobat Reader in your Start menu. In the Edit menu
choose Preferences and select Options. Uncheck the option "Display
PDF in Browser." This solution has the side effect of displaying
your return in a stand-alone Acrobat Reader window. (Occasionally,
after viewing your return once with this setting, you can then
return Acrobat Reader's Preferences to their previous setting
and Acrobat Reader will work properly thereafter.)
-
As a final option, return to the File menu in Acrobat Reader.
After selecting Preferences and General as above, select Options
and uncheck the option "Open Cross-doc Links in Same Window."
This solution will remove the index in your PDF file; you will
then have to use page-up and page-down to view all the pages
of your return.

of page.)
10. When moving from page to page
or attempting to print, I get a message that says "This page contains
both secure and nonsecure items. Do you want to display the nonsecure
items?" What should I do?
This web site is secure in
spite of the error message displayed by the browser; you may click
"Yes" to continue.
