1.  What is the Intacct Dashboard?

The Intacct Dashboard is a feature of the Intacct web-based accounting application that is the basis of our WJH Accounting Online services.  The dashboard feature allows the user to have a totally personalized user interface into Intacct.

Normally, a user of Intacct uses the default homepage to navigate through applications and do their job.  The default homepage is designed for all possible actions and is therefore contains many links and options.  While the default home page is very useful and complete, it provides more functions than many users need and can be a little intimidating.

The Intacct Dashboard allows for a customized user interface that provides exactly the functions and data that the user needs to access.  The dashboard can be designed based on both the user's preferences for how they view the data as well as their role within the organization.    For instance, a company may want to give an employee accounts payable privileges only, or a manager might prefer to see sales data as a graph rather than as numbers in a table.  The Intacct Dashboard addresses these and many more personalization needs.

2.  What advantages do dashboards provide?

  • They provide a simpler user interface that only contains the tools and data you need

  • They take into account your role as well as your preferences

  • They help in creating a secure control environment since they help limit what a user can see and do

  • They provide quicker access to key data for both executives and staff

3.  What type of content can de displayed on the dashboard?

  • Intacct Application Data - The dashboard can display dat6a from the various Intact modules.  This can be "live" data so that the dashboard updates anytime the data changes.  For example, if you were a user who was responsible for approving payments, you could see the list of payments waiting for your action at any time.  By clicking on the payments you could go directly to the details for the payments or to the approval screen fro the dashboard.

  • Intacct Reports - Any reports - for example, financial statements - created within Intacct can be displayed ont he dashboard

  • Intacct Charts - Charts/graphs created within Intacct can also be displayed on the dashboard.

  • Web Pages and Links - Links to other web pages can be listed or the contents of the page displayed on the dashboard.

  • RSS Information - Information from other web sites that proide RSS feeds can be displayed.  This is a common method for obtaining news and other topical information.

  • Other information - Calendars, message boards, and other useful tools can be added to a dashboard

4.  What are some examples of typical dashboards?

The following examples show possible dashboards for different individuals within an organization.

Accounts Payable Clerk Example

The following figure shows a possible dashboard for someone who only performs A/P functions.

This dashboard includes a set of messages automatically generated by Intacct on the left to inform the user of new features that have been recently added to the applications.

The center portion of the screen provides data from the Intacct application.  In this section there are 4 components - Vendors, Bills, Payment Requests, and Posted Payments.  Note that these components can be minimized or expanded on the dashboard.  In the example shown only the "Bills" component is expanded.

The right side of the dashboard has a set of links to the various modules within Intacct.

For the middle section of this dashboard there are links to the Intacct modules and the New Features window.

In the right column there are components (minimized in this image) for A/R - customers and Invoices - and a calendar.

The middle section provides views of the income statement and balance sheet as well as a list of customers.  Note that these can be "live" views that automatically change as the data in Intacct changes.  Also note that by clicking on data in these components the user can go directly into the applicable Intacct module.

In the right column there is a calendar, a collection of current news items from the New York Times (using an RSS feed), and a component displaying the CNN web site.

5.  How much does the Intacct Dashboard feature cost?

The Intacct Dashboard feature is only available for users of the Intacct web-based accounting application.  For users with the normal full subscriptions to Intacct there is no extra fee for the use of dashboards .  If a user does not have a full subscription, adding dashboard capability costs $35.00 per month per user.  In both cases any number of dashboards may be added.
