1.  What is the Client File Transfer service?

Client File Transfer service is a free service provided by WJH that allows the transfer of large data files between the client and WJH staff members.  It is designed to handle files that are too big to easily send to us as an email attachment or files containing sensitive data that need the additional security associated with SSL.

2.  Why can't I just send files to you as an e-mail attachment?

You can send files by e-mail or you can burn the files onto a CD or DVD.  However, Client File Manager has a few advantages.

  • It is more secure than e-mail transfers.  It automatically handles the authentication of users by requiring a password to transfer or access files.

  • It can handle large files that would either not work with your e-mail provider or would tie up your e-mail for unacceptably long periods of time.

  • It is web based, so you can give us a file without having to physically transfer CD or DVD to us.  All you need is a web browser and Internet connection.

3.  How large a file can I transfer with Client File Manager?

You can transfer files up to 500 megabytes in size.  (Contact us if you need to transfer larger files.)

(Click here to return to top of page.)

4.  How does it work?

First, you need an account set up with a user id and password.  This is done by a WJH staff member.   Contact us and let us know you need an account and we will do the rest.

Note that each account we set up has a time limit.  Your account expires after 7 days.

The service is provided by IBackup.com.  Once we have set up your account you simply go to IBackup.com,  login, and follow some simple steps.

5.  What type of computer do I need to access Client File Manager?

You need any computer running a recent browser.  For example, Internet Explorer version 5 or later.  If you are going to be transferring large files you need a broadband Internet connection - at least DSL speeds.

6.  How do I send a file to WJH using Client File Transfer?

This processed is referred to as "Uploading" a file to WJH.

1. Call or e-mail WJH when you have a file to transfer.

2. You will receive an e-mail from WJH with a password and a link to the upload site.  Click the link to go to the IBackup login.

Remember: Each account we set up has a time limit.  Your account expires after 7 days.

3. Enter the password given in the e-mail and click the login button, sending you to the following screen.

4. Click on the “Upload” icon near the top of the screen to select a file to upload.  You’ll be sent to the following page.

5. Enter your name and any comment you may have regarding the file and click the “Upload File” button at the bottom of the screen.  You’ll be sent to the following page.

7. Click on the “Upload file” button to upload the file.

8. Call or e-mail WJH once you’ve uploaded the file.

(Click here to return to top of page.)

7.  How do I access a file that a WJH staff person has left for me using Client File Transfer?

This process is referred to as "downloading" a file.

1. WJH will contact you when a file is available for you and will provide a username and password, and link to IBackup.

2. Click the link to go to the IBackup login.

Remember: Each account we set up has a time limit.  Your account expires after 7 days.

3. Enter the password given in the e-mail and click the login button, sending you to the following screen, listing the documents that have been uploaded and are available for you to download (For example, test.doc shown on the following screen.)

4. Click on the document you wish to download to download it.  You’ll be sent to a screen like the one below.

5. Click on the “Download File” button to download the file.  You’ll be prompted for a location to save the file on your local machine.

(Click here to return to top of page.)

8.  Is my data mixed in with other clients' data so that we can see each others?

No.  While your data is on the same server as other people's data you have a separate folder that only you (and WJH staff) can access.

(Click here to return to top of page.)

9.  What are the limitations of the Client File transfer service?

Client File Transfer service is a shared service.  While your data cannot be accessed by any other user, the basic service is shared by a large number of clients.  This means that each account that is set up to use the service expires after a set time - currently 7 days.  SO, Client File Transfer should only be used for occasional transfers since each transfer requires a new user id to be set up.   It is optimally used for quarterly and monthly transfers.

10.  What can I do if I need more capabilities or exceed the restrictions of Client File Transfer?

We have another solution that also uses IBackup but sets you up with a permanent individual account.  Fees for this service are based on your projected frequency of uploads and start at $5 per month.
